The beauty of form, captured in three dimensions, is unique and powerful. I’ve taught portrait sculpture for over a decade and have enjoyed creating commissioned works as well. If you are interested in a custom portrait or figurative sculpture of your child or one of your heroes, let me know in the form below.
The sculpture process typically begins with a live session, during which I take measurements and begin roughing in a likeness. Using photographs and live sessions, I finish the form in plastelina clay, at which point it is ready for molding and casting. The molding process includes a wax version of the sculpture, which is then used to make a rubber or plaster mold, from which the bronze is cast. These are a few shots of some various stages of the process.
